Women’s Blue Gombey Swimsuit

This one-piece bathing suit is made of a blue material with white stitching. The upper left corner, right above the chest, is an image of a Bermuda gombey mask in white. Inside the mask is a British flag, and on top of that is the coat of arms of Bermuda, which depicts a red lion holding a shield that has a depiction of a wrecked ship upon it. (Quo fata ferunt (Latin) means Whither the fates carry (English) ). Under the mask is the word Bermuda and coordinates to the island.

On the back is an image of a gombey dancer in white. The gombey is an iconic symbol of Bermuda, a unique performance art full of colorful and intricate masquerade, dance and drumming. This folk tradition reflects the island’s blend of African and Caribbean cultures with British influence.
